Low Farmland Inventory Driving Land Values Across U.S.
“Over the years, we’ve seen this before. Right now, with the uncertainty in the markets, interest rates are going up, inflation is still up, and these factors are concerning to some people. This inventory problem has been out there long before any of these current concerns, though; it just seems to be a pattern we’re in right now,” stated AR Land Broker Jeramy Stephens during a recent interview on RFD-TV.
Stephens broke down regional land value trends and the factors like inflation, listing inventory, drought, and more that are impacting US land values in 2026. While the market overall remains strong as we move into Q4, Stephens anticipates further stability in the short-term due to the relatively low reactivity of land values in the face of external pressures. According to Stephens, there are still opportunities in the market for both buyers and sellers, if they know where to look.
