Inside RLI: NLR’s Jeramy Stephens

At National Land Realty, we are so proud to have over 200 agents and brokers nationwide that are passionate about land and are involved in their communities and other organizations.

For this month, we wanted to highlight an individual who has been making great strides this year. Someone who has been actively involved in all of his roles in the land industry. That person is Jeramy Stephens.

As you may already know, Jeramy is a Managing Broker/Partner at NLR. He oversees the company’s Mid-South region office in Little Rock, Arkansas, and has been in the land business for over 20 years. He’s also the current National President of the Realtor’s Land Institute (RLI).

Jeramy first got involved in RLI over 10 years ago through another member who introduced him to the organization. “I had a mentor who had been involved with RLI for a long time and had taken me to a meeting in Memphis in 2005 or 2006,” Jeramy said. “I saw what it was about and never really took the step until I got exposed to it again in 2008 or 2009 and decided to join. From there, I took the step and never looked back.”

Starting out as an RLI member in 2009/2010, he quickly received his Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) Designation in 2012 in Las Vegas. He later served as president for the Arkansas State Chapter in 2015, then was elected as RLI’s Vice President in 2016 and moved up to President-Elect in 2017. In April of 2018, Jeramy served out the term of the late 2018 National President Jimmy Settle and officially began his term as president in November of that year.

“It is my goal for the rest of this year to continue implementing the vision of our late 2018 National President Jimmy Settle, ALC, who lost his battle with cancer on April 1. It is with both a heavy heart and great pride that I have taken the oath of office to finish his term and become the 2018-19 National President of the REALTORS® Land Institute. I am honored to serve at such an exciting time in RLI’s history as we approach our 75th Anniversary in 2019. As president, I look forward to continuing our momentum in building a more member-centric, value-providing organization that all members can be proud to call their own. Leadership and staff continue to work diligently towards achieving the goals set out in our 2017-2020 Strategic Plan to establish us further as ‘The Voice of Land,’” Jeramy stated in a President’s Message for RLI when he first began his term.

Jeramy’s quick growth at NLR and RLI shows his tenacity and determination to be the best in the land industry, something we strive for every day at NLR. Along the way, Jeramy said he’s learned many things, but during his term as National President of RLI, he’s learned that, “there are people that are one owner or smaller real estate firms and people who are part of the larger companies. It’s all about listening and learning the different types of businesses and personalities because one person’s needs are different than someone else’s needs.”

Both of his leadership roles at NLR and RLI intersect on many levels, he said. “As RLI president, I find out about a lot of needs from agents and brokers through RLI when meeting different people from different organizations. Seeing the questions, problems, and issues from all across the country gives me the opportunity to be able to pass that along to our agents and brokers at NLR.”

Jeramy’s term as RLI’s National President will come to a close this November, but not without having met several great accomplishments. Jeramy said his biggest achievement as president of RLI was “the organization completely revamping our education programs and updating all our land-based courses. The staff and the Executive Team have worked extremely hard to have the courses updated and implemented to provide better education for all our membership.”
