2019 National Land Summit: A Recap

February 13, 2019

Last week, National Land Realty professionals from across the country came together at the 2019 National Land Summit in Atlanta for two days of camaraderie, guest speakers, educational classes, and networking.

The company’s biggest event of the year began Tuesday evening with a fun few hours of bowling, socializing and food at the welcome event, hosted by AgAmerica. Corporate staff and National Land agents and brokers showed off their competitive edge and awesome bowling skills that night.

In keeping with tradition, Jason Burbage, NLR Executive VP, and Pat Snyder, Western NC Land Broker, held a voluntary boot camp-style workout on Wednesday morning before the official start of the Summit. (Kudos to the 17 people who made it at 5:45 a.m.!)

Kicking it off at 9 o’clock sharp, Aaron Graham, NLR President, gave everyone a warm welcome and introduced the first session that included important technology updates from Ann Gaffigan, NLR CTO, and Tyler Van Meeteren, NLR GIS Director. For this session, two National Land brokers were also brought up on stage to share how they use NLR’s technology in the field.

For the next part of the Summit, attendees were able to participate in a group discussion led by Aaron and Jason Burbage. Agents and brokers shared their expertise and discussed a variety of important land topics.

After a lunch break, Lizz Pingry, NLR Marketing Director, gave several updates from NLR’s marketing department. She was followed by an incredibly informative presentation from Eric Rama, Head of Agricultural Research at MetLife, and a second group discussion closed out the sessions for day 1 of the Summit.

Later that evening, attendees were welcomed back at the Awards Banquet that honors the best of the best at National Land. Sponsored by RCX Capital Group, the Banquet kicked off with dinner and a raffle. The 2018 awards ceremony then began by recognizing three individuals that had been with NLR for more than 5 years. They were presented with a certificate of acknowledgment. Two awards from last year were brought back: the Rising Star Award and the Top Gun Award. And two new ones were added: the Trailblazer Award and the Impact Award. This year, the company also awarded the top 10 percent of top producers for 2018. The Awards Banquet successfully closed with a keynote by motivational speaker Charles Marshall who kept everyone smiling and inspired throughout the evening.

A big congratulations to all the winners!

Day 2 opened with a fun game of NLR jeopardy hosted by Ann. Everyone had a blast figuring out funny and interesting facts about one another.

Soon after, sessions picked back up with a presentation on the listing process from Jeramy Stephens, NLR Partner and AR Land Broker. Nathan Fabrick, NLR Commercial Managing Director, followed with an update from the Commercial division. And after a short break, Jason Burbage held an hour-long discussion on Broker Price Opinions.

At the end of day 2, the Summit culminated with one of the most exciting sessions ever hosted – an auction. Throughout the Summit, agents and brokers received NLR “money” that they were told to hold on to until the end of the Summit. With the help of J.P. King Auction Co., items such as a drone, an Apple watch, and an African Hunting Safari were auctioned off. (Be sure to watch the video below for the thrill of the auction!)

The 2019 National Land Summit had over 100 agents present. Thank you to all who came, and hope to see you next year!
