We ARE the Land Industry: Jeramy Stephens
At NLR, We are smart, hungry and humble.
Jeramy Stephens’ nature of being smart, hungry and humble can be clearly seen when you look at all he’s accomplished.
Jeramy is a husband and father of two boys, a Land Broker/Partner at NLR, and an Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) with the REALTORS Land Institute (RLI). He’s a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in the land industry. He’s a three-time winner of an Agent of the Year award for a national real estate company, our company’s Top Producer for 2016 and 2017 in Arkansas, and he’s also the current National President of RLI, serving out the term of Jimmy Settle, who passed away on April 1, and officially beginning his term when he’s inaugurated on November 2.
Jeramy’s many roles certainly keep him busy, but are an integral part of his daily work, relationships and results at NLR. When we asked him how his involvement with RLI relates to his position at our company, he said,
“I have the opportunity to meet and network with great people all over the country. These relationships have turned into new brokers and agents for NLR. People see the great things we are doing at NLR and sometimes want to be part of our team. I also see a lot of issues that are occurring all over the country in the land industry. As these issues arise, I have the ability to share with our brokers and agents possible resolutions if they encounter some of these problems.”
And when we asked him how his role at RLI plays a part in his relationships with his clients, he said,
“The education I have obtained through RLI has helped me with my clients for many years. As we develop new courses and update existing courses, it’s always great to obtain new information to pass along to clients for their specific situations. I also have clients with real estate interests in many parts of the county and I also have foreign investor clients. The networking through RLI gives me contacts from coast to coast that I trust if I need help with a client in state that I do not hold a license or if the client needs assistance in an area outside my expertise.”
Through his many roles, involvement in the land industry and drive to remain smart, hungry and humble, Jeramy is truly a great example of our company culture.
“Company culture to me is integrity. There is a book Leadership Promises for Everyday by James C. Maxwell that talks about integrity. Here are a few sentences from the book speaking on integrity. ‘A person with integrity does not have divided loyalties, nor is he or she merely pretending. People with integrity have nothing to hide and nothing to fear. Their lives are open books. Integrity is not what we do, so much as who we are. And who we are, in turn, determines what we do. We all struggle daily with situations that demand decisions between what we want to do and what we ought to do. Integrity establishes the ground rules for resolving these tensions.’
I try my best to have integrity in everything I do whether in business or with family and friends. In our company we deal with the public each and every day. If you treat your clients and team members with integrity, it will go a long way in your relationships. Those relationships will grow into additional relationships because people will know that everything is above board and you are a trustworthy individual. If you do not have integrity, the old phrase ‘bad news travels fast’ will be everywhere and business will be hard to obtain due to the negative association.
At NLR, we operate with integrity towards our clients and team members and this is one of the reasons we have been able to grow at a rapid pace. People want to be part of a group they can trust.”
