2018 NLR Top Gun Spotlight: Clint Flowers
Henry David Thoreau once said, “Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.”
While you could certainly say Clint Flowers is too busy looking for success, the truth is that he’s too busy working hard for it out in the field every day, excelling at his career in the land industry.
Clint is the managing broker for National Land throughout the Gulf Coast region, where he oversees 12 agents. He’s been in the land business for 15 years and it’s safe to say, he definitely knows what he’s doing.
Clint, licensed in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida, has been the top producing agent nationwide at NLR for the past 3 years, winning the Top Gun Award for 2016, 2017 and 2018. He holds the designation of Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) from the Realtors Land Institute (RLI) and has received RLI’s Apex Award for 2017 and 2018. Clint is also heavily involved in several organizations in his home state of Alabama. He is chair of the Future Leaders Committee at RLI, a board member of the Alabama Forest Resource Center, a non-profit land trust that manages Conservation Easements, and is active in the Rotary Club of Mobile, the Order of Fuse, Alabama Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Quality Deer Management Association, Coastal Conservation Association, and the National Wild Turkey Federation.
Each year, the Top Gun Award winner receives an NLR custom-engraved shotgun. Clint was presented the Top Gun Award at the 2019 National Land Summit back in February of this year. As this was his third year in a row winning the award, he chose to donate the money that would be used to purchase the gun to a local nonprofit instead of adding a third shotgun to his collection. Clint matched the donation of the money from National Land Realty that went to the nonprofit in Alabama.
Clint chose to donate the money to Fuse Project, a community-based nonprofit organization that primarily focuses on the improvement of lives and education of children along the Gulf Coast. Each year, the organization picks a different area where donations will make the most impact in. “I chose Fuse because the money is spent locally on improving the education and lives of kids in our community,” Clint said. “I love that their focus is on the children of our community but that their approach to that is ever changing and improving. Due to its great leadership, the organization is growing, funding a diverse number of new projects every year, like their Purpose Built Community project.”
As far as Clint’s goals for being the top producer for 2019 go, Clint said:
“I want to beat my production from last year while having more time with my family, and while I won’t slow down for anyone, I would like to see one of my agents earn the Top Gun Award instead of me.”
When we asked him what his advice would be for new or current agents who want to increase their production this year, he said:
“Marketing is important and a key component to success, but our industry is very relationship based. Agents need to always be building their referral network. My referral network has been key to my success. Friends, family, professional contacts, and past clients – people can trust that when they refer clients and customers to me, I’ll take care of them and do right by them. That’s something I’ve had to earn over the years, and I am beyond grateful for it. I always enjoy leaving a transaction with new friends as opposed to past clients or customers. And for new agents, make sure your friends and family understand what you do, what you specialize in. They are the bedrock your referral network is built on. The people that care about you will always be your biggest cheerleaders and promoters.”
