Selling Land

4 Signs You’re Ready to Sell Your Land

April 20, 2018

Have you had the same piece of property for years now and haven’t been on it or done anything with it? If the thought of selling your property has crossed your mind at least once, but you’re just not 100% sure whether you should or shouldn’t, these five signs might steer you in the right direction.

1. Your Needs Have Changed

Maybe you have bigger dreams that require a larger property. You might want to have more than 100 acres to build a farm or a dove field or you just want a larger high fence property to do some major hunting. Or maybe you’ve bitten off more than you can chew. You bought 50 acres, but now you’ve realized you really don’t need that big of a property. Regardless of the situation, it’s okay to evolve with your needs.

2. You Want a Change of Scenery (Literally)

There’s nothing wrong with changing your mind. Like mentioned in #1, your needs evolve. So, as you start to have more changes in your life, you might start looking for different things out of a property. Maybe you’ve been looking at the same mountains for years and you’re ready for a larger piece of property out west. Or perhaps you’re looking for a mountain retreat to get away to in the winter instead of your lakeside cabin. Either way, you’re ready for some change.

3. Your Gut is Telling You It’s Time

You just went on a hunting trip with a buddy to a different side of the country that you’ve never been to and now that you’re back home you just can’t stop thinking about that huge tract with rolling hills. If you can’t get it off your mind and your gut is telling you it was meant to be, it’s time to start looking into selling your current property and following your instincts.

4. You’d Rather Have the Money

If you’re ready to retire, you’re sending multiple kids to college or simply don’t have the time to keep up with property maintenance and you’d honestly rather have cash in hand, it’s time to sell. For every day you have to maintain the property, you could be using that money to spend on yourself.
