We ARE the Land Industry: Sean Brown

March 29, 2018

we are the land industry: sean brown

In continuation of our effort to be more transparent with our core values at National Land Realty, we are sharing a culture series where we highlight an agent/broker each month that represents one of our company culture statements.

At NLR, We are passionate, persistent and resolute.

Sean Brown
Sean Brown, AL Land Professional

Sean Brown is a passionate Land Professional, family man, and outdoorsman based in Alabama. He’s also a member of Ducks Unlimited, the Alabama Forestry Association, Alabama Wildlife Federation, and the National Association of Realtors. His love for the outdoors developed as a child, which later carried on into later years when he assisted with the oversight of his family’s farm. He helped with pond, timber and wildlife management, as well as habitat improvement, and cabin/barn construction.

Sean made the move to NLR after working several years with another real estate company based out of Alabama. His reason for making the big move came from several things NLR provides. “The support from the home office was a huge piece of the puzzle that was very attractive. The website development, the marketing, the tools we have on the backend of our website, social media marketing, the national presence, and having agents in other parts of the country…” he said. “I just wanted to take my business to the next level.”

Sean knows that patience and persistence are key. “One of the challenges I had early on in the business was when I had a client that I spent a year and a half showing properties to and they never bought. Several times I wanted to walk away, but I kept showing them properties. They ended up sending me a referral to their boss. The client sent me that referral on a Monday and that Saturday I ended up showing his boss some really nice properties. That following week, he purchased a 1,300-acre high fence for $2.95 million. It was my biggest sale ever because I had only been in the business a couple years. The client ended up buying a 120-acre farm himself.

This was a great lesson of perseverance, patience, and faith. Being patient in this business is so important because it’s a lot different. Sometimes you get lucky and sell stuff quickly, but our sales model is sometimes slower than residential. This was a good lesson for me and I always reflect back on that sale.

There’s always going to be a dry spell. So, keep working hard. The process is what sells real estate. I don’t worry about the commission. I worry about what’s best for my client and the commission comes. When you want to give up, don’t give up, because the next phone call could be someone that wants to buy 1,000 acres.”

When asking Sean about company culture, he said, “Culture to me with NLR is teamwork, partnership, lifting each other up, promoting each other, helping each other out. The culture at NLR is very pro-teamwork. I’ve worked with several agents already and I get calls from several agents on different listings, just trying to work together and help each other out. There’s a great team culture that works really well and helps not only existing agents build more volume, but also encourages new agents.”

In this business, it’s easy to not want to wanna reach out to other agents, but I do believe if you help others, you’ll sell as well. I’ve seen it with my business when you lift others up. You’ll be elevated also. It’s hard for a lot of people to do, but if you just try it the results will come. If you’re a good team player, you’ll make more sales.”
