Why Wild Hogs Are a Big Problem for Landowners

March 10, 2025

Wild hogs are a problem throughout the United States. For those of us who do not live in an area without these feral animals, it is hard to understand. Wild hogs affect agriculture, breed quickly, and are nearly impossible to eradicate. Today we are talking with land real estate agent Wyatt Brannan, in our Odessa Texas office, to get a grasp of this problem. Wyatt has first-experience with wild hogs and we will discuss their biology, impact, and the hunting industry that is emerging around them.

Wyatt Brannan joined National Land Realty in November 2024, bringing a strong background in land management, ranching, and property acquisitions. As a Texas real estate agent specializing in ranchland and hunting properties, Wyatt is passionate about helping clients buy and sell land in Texas, with a particular focus on the diverse landscapes of the Lone Star State. Growing up on a working cattle ranch in central Texas, Wyatt developed a deep appreciation for the land and the many ways it can be utilized. His love for the outdoors extends to hunting deer, hogs, turkeys, dove, ducks, and coyotes—a passion that has given him unique insights into the value and potential of Texas ranchland. Wyatt holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University and completed his real estate training through the Champions School of Real Estate. Prior to joining National Land Realty, he worked as an acquisitions manager at Electrum Properties, where he honed his skills in property evaluation and negotiations. His previous experience also includes serving as a staff member for Christians at Tech, where he led Bible studies, coordinated events, and provided one-on-one mentorship to students. When he isn’t working with clients, Wyatt enjoys spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, hiking, and skiing. He currently resides in Lubbock, Texas, with his fiancée, Emily Knutson, and continues to be actively involved in his community through volunteer work and his faith.
