How to Protect Your Property From Trespassing and Crime
When you invest in a tract of land, you don’t want to be worried about trespassing, theft and other crimes. This doesn’t happen to everyone but it can happen to you. It’s not wise to have the mindset, “It will never happen to me.” It is best to have a plan in place to protect your investment.
This article is just to keep you vigilant about your personal property and free from any crime that may occur. Such crimes may be something serious such as stealing farm equipment all the way to something as innocent as fishing in your own personal stocked pond.
How do you protect one of your most valuable assets when you are not present?
I personally wanted to inform you as the landowner of a few items that may help in order to prevent crime on your property. Keep in mind these are preventive measures and not sure-fire ways to keep crime at bay.
1. Road System: Two major thoughts when placing your road system. 1- Develop a serpentine drive instead of a straight in access. It may cost a little more but the security will be invaluable. It makes for a slower drive in and drive out. This slow speed will give you the opportunity to place cameras strategically along the road in order to capture who is coming and going on the property. Two make sure not to have to many access points. One road in and one road out.
2. Signing: This is by far the easiest and cheapest of all options. Make sure to put up fresh and new no trespassing signs. I know this seems basic, but bright new signs show that the owner is aware and is serious about their personal property. As stated before this are all preventive measures. I hope these few suggestions will keep you and your most valuable asset safe.
