New Turkey and Deer Hunting Regulation Change for Georgia in 2016

April 8, 2016

Georgia Hunting Regulation Change

Hunters, if you haven’t heard already, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has implemented a new mandatory system for all hunters to keep track of and report Harvest Records on Turkey and Deer taken within the state. This applies for all hunters, even if you’re not required to purchase a license.

Harvest records must be recorded on paper, on the web or via the Outdoors GA app BEFORE moving a turkey or deer from the kill site. Additionally, all harvest must be reported within 72 hours through Georgia Game Check.

This data will provide county-level information for hunters and land managers, assists conservation rangers in enforcing game laws, and informs management decisions made by professional biologists.

Details can be found on the Georgia Department of Natural Resources website.
