Land of the Free Because of the Brave
Today, we at National Land Realty (NLR) remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and make us worthy of the title, “Land of the Free.”
Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day, was first established as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of fallen Civil War soldiers with flowers. The event was first observed at Arlington National Cemetery on May 30, 1868 and later became a federal holiday in 1971. Each year, a ceremony is held at Arlington Cemetery in which a small American flag is placed on each grave.
There is also the National Moment of Remembrance, which was passed in 2000. It asks that every American take a moment of silence in honor and remembrance of our fallen soldiers at 3 p.m. on Memorial Day. This moment of remembrance is a way for everyone to take a little time out of their day to think about those that have made the ultimate sacrifice in order to secure our freedoms.
NLR corporate office is closed today to honor the fallen, and a special thank you to all NLR agents and support crew members who have served. God Bless our servicemen and women and the Land of the Free.
