Boutique winery/event center is located on the west edge of Rochester, MN. Post Town Winery is the only winery in a city of 100,000+ residents and a large number of visitors. The winery/event center encompasses two suites in Plaza 14 Bldg, Suites 5 and 6. These suites offer 2500 SF of tastefully decorated space in which to host many types of events: wine tastings; live music sessions; all types of parties – bridal, birthday, anniversary, retirement…; as well as wine or book clubs.
Post Town Winery is specifically designed to handle special events and can comfortably accommodate 50 people with overflow seating. Post Town Winery is an operating business with all equipment included (pumps, tanks, hoses, etc) to produce and sell wine. Suites 5 and 6 offer a tasting room and entertaining area; wine production area in the back; kitchen area; and there is ample parking for ease of guests arriving at the winery.
Post Town Winery is a family-owned and operated business founded in Rochester, MN in 2002. The company received its basic permit for operation as a bonded wine premise from the Alcohol and tobacco Tax & Trade Bureau in April of 2004 and its license as a Minnesota Farm Winery from the MN Department of Public Safety in 2005. The production and sale of wine have been conducted under the name of “Post Town Winery” since 2005.
Important dates for the winery:

- April 2004: Federal Wine Premise permit granted
- May 2005: vineyard planting began
- March 2005: winery operations started in leased warehouse space in Byron, MN
- August 2005: MN Farm Winery license granted
- Sept 2005: first commercial production in owner’s garage
- June 2006: first commercial sales on limited basis
- July 2008: winery production space doubled
- Summer 2009: first full season of retail and wholesale sales
- Fall 2010: 1000 gallon capacity reached; expansion planned
- Sept 2010: purchase offer made on new facility
- Nov 2010: grand opening in Rochester!
In March, 2012, the Minnesota Farm Winery statutes were changed to require all future wineries to be operated on property contiguous with an operation vineyard. This restriction on future wineries in Minnesota means that Post Town Winery may be the only winery ever permitted within the city limits of Rochester, MN.
In 2017, all Minnesota wineries were required to be inspected by the MN Department of Agriculture Food & Feed Safety Division. New requirements were introduced necessitating the purchase of all commercial grade appliances for the winery (call agent for list of appliances and equipment included in the sale).
Land on which to grow the vines is located approximately ten miles west of the winery’s retail/event center. This +/-21 acre site offers +/- five acres planted with approximately 2000 vines surrounded by deer fencing. The vineyard is located in a picturesque area of rolling hills with woods, equestrian and hobby farms and county park. The site itself is located at the junction of CSAH 103 NW and CSAH 105 NW (CSAH 103 NW runs E/W through the site; CSAH 105 NW forms the westerly boundary; the South Brand Middle Fork of the Zumbro River forms the easterly boundary).
Vines are located on the south side of CSAH 103; the north side of the site has approximately eight acres of open ground; the balance is woods along the river contributing to the scenic/picturesque aspect of this site.
This acreage is located in an A-3, Agricultural District which is designed to maintain and conserve agricultural investments and prime ag farmland, but to permit some non-farm development at a low density. Per Olmsted County Planning & Zoning, there is some area on the north portion of the tract that is not in floodplain that could be utilized as buildable area.
