Moore Ranch - 6J Paint Horses
The Moore Ranch/6J Paint Horse operation is one of the largest breeders of performance paint horses in the world. Located just minutes from Huntsville,TX, off Highway 30, the Ranch is well known for paint horse genetics for roping, working, reining, and cutting. The land features 264 +/- acres of rolling green pastures with miles of cross fencing and several ponds totaling over 20 acres of surface water. There are two horse barns on the property, with the main barn over 33,000 square feet under roof. The historic centerpiece of this ranching operation is the three story Moore home. This beautiful home was built in the Colonial Revival style and was constructed in 1913 in Huntsville, by Col. A. T. McKinney. It was moved and restored by the current owners in 1984 from downtown Huntsville to the most beautiful hill on the ranch, overlooking a 20 acre lake. More than 100, 30-year-old oak trees line this breath taking country lane to the historic home. The home is over 8,000 square feet with over 3,000 square feet of porches overlooking the ranch. A bedroom on the 2nd floor is dedicated to First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt when she visited the home in 1937.
