I originally wrote this article in August of 2016 \u2013 the same time we were all enjoying the Olympics in Brazil. It appears there is a parallel between the relationship of the coaches and their athletes and that of a land services company sharing their knowledge and experience with landowners, investors, and 1031 exchange<\/a> participants to meet or exceed their goals.<\/p>\n

In several instances, we have worked with families throughout their lifetimes: from assisting them in purchasing their first tract of land; to completing an appraisal for estate planning or settlement; to managing their land because they are now an absentee landowner in retirement. This same family may also have worked with us in completing a 1031 exchange when they sold a parcel of land in order to purchase a larger tract or one that was closer in proximity to their operation; or may have worked with us in a consulting situation to determine whether they should buy<\/a>, sell<\/a>, or make improvements to their property.<\/p>\n

Consequently, land REALTORS\u00ae, appraisers, auctioneers, and farm managers are trained to assist in the ever-evolving, complex landscape of the land industry. Land professionals stay abreast of local, regional, national, and global economics. We also are keenly aware of the effects of interest rates and land value trends, demographic shifts and what that means to the market. As land professionals, we stay up-to-date and are involved with legislation affecting land and agri-business such as WOTUS (Waters of the US\/Clean Water Act), the use of drones for commercial use, the Clean Power Act, tax reform and its effect on the use of the IRS 1031 tax-deferred exchanges, and other legislative issues.<\/p>\n
