So, you\u2019ve always wanted to have a farm, but don\u2019t really have the time or large amounts of extra money to start one. You want the whole nine yards \u2013 the chickens, the goats, the cows and the bees. You want fresh milk, eggs, cheese, and honey. A hobby farm is a small farm run primarily for pleasure, not profit. Hobby farm owners typically have a main source of income that allows them to be able to enjoy their hobby farm as a pastime instead of a job.<\/p>\n

Anyone can start a hobby farm! There\u2019s really no right or wrong way to run one. So, don\u2019t be afraid to pursue your dream of owning your own farm!<\/p>\n

How do I start one?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

All you need is a little bit of land to start! You can use your very own backyard or you can buy a small plot of land that\u2019s just a few minutes\u2019 drive from your home. But first, you\u2019ll want to figure out what your goals are. Do you want to raise animals on it? Do you want to grow your own food?<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll need to find out what kind of animals you can keep on your property, especially if you\u2019re setting your hobby farm up in your backyard. Check zoning rules and regulations about animal care and breeding in your area by talking with your county\u2019s department of planning or with city hall. Some of today\u2019s traditional hobby farm animals include horses, cows, bees, goats, pigs, and turkeys.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll also want to do your fair share of research on things like what kind of tools you\u2019ll need, what foods are best for the animals you have, what types of soil you have, etc. It\u2019s always a good idea to get as much information as possible!<\/p>\n
